RICHARD LONG - HEAVEN AND EARTH Exhibition, Tate Britain ***

If I'd had to pay to see this exhibition I'd have felt somewhat cheated. But we're Tate members and exhibitions are free.

For Richard Long the real art is each walk he takes - whether it's in a dead-straight line for a fixed distance, or in a spiral, or over a precise time. What he exhibits are the various ways he records those walks. Some are photos of lines he's created through stones he's found on the way or through stamping down grass or dust; some are almost poems that are presented in huge type on the gallery walls. What we liked best were the artworks he laid out on the floor, using different sorts of stones.

Mildly interesting on a wet day. Not worth shelling out good money for.

Hmm...I wonder what import the exhibition title has for Long?
