I loved this book (which has nothing to do with William Wilberforce, by the way).
It's about a man (Wilberforce) who drinks himself to death, which sounds pretty grim - and it is. But it's also funny, touching and gripping.
He's 'inherited' (although he actually bought it) a huge house and a massive 100,000 bottle wine-cellar from Francis. Francis introduced Wilberforce, a geeky software millionaire, to a whole new circle of friends. Through them he has found a degree of acceptance and he even falls in love and marries.
The trouble is: he's become obsessed with wine. He's not, he insists, a drinker but a 'taster', a connoisseur, of wine. And, of course, he's not an alcoholic - he could stop if he wanted to.
It doesn't sound very appealing, but it is. It's a great read.
