A 'crossover' book for teenagers and adults, this is the story of Sam, who at 16 manages to get his girl-friend (also 16) pregnant, after an accident with a condom.
She won't have an abortion, so they try to stick together for the sake of the baby. But they're far too young and immature.
Every so often Sam has a dream - a premonition - of life in years to come, with the baby. And it scares him rigid.
It's all very well-intentioned, and the book rattles along in an easy-to-read way, but the big problem is that it's narrated by Sam himself, who is supposed to be a typical, tongue-tied teenage boy, who refuses to talk through important issues. However Sam talks to the reader like a garrulous teenage girl - he witters on about everything. So there seems a big mismatch between the narrative style and the character of the narrator, which annoyed me. I've a horrible feeling that any teenage boy who read this wouldn't take it as a morality tale, but would just think Sam was a girly wimp.
