XIAOLU GUO A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers ***(*)

The story of a 23-year-old Chinese girl who comes to London for a year to learn English. Very early on she meets a fortyish bisexual vegetarian sculptor! To start with her English is very limited and when he says "Be my guest" she promptly moves in.

They fall in love and their relationship deepens. Each chapter is headed by a definition from a Chinese-English dictionary, which shows how her understanding of English grows. But beginning to share a common language doesn't mean that they can understand love or each other's thoughts and needs, and the relationship comes to an inevitable end.

It's a good enough read, with some very nice touches, but... There was something lacking for me.
