An
entertaining but to be honest rather slight comic novel.
The
central character, Vaughan, wakes up on the tube and finds he’s totally lost
his memory, as well as his wallet. He has no idea who he is. Eventually his
best friend finds him in hospital and takes him home with him. On the way
Vaughan spots this gorgeous woman on the street and is told that she’s Maddie,
his wife, and that they’re approaching the end stages of an acrimonious
divorce.
The
rest of the book is about how Vaughan attempts to woo Maddie once more and
repair the damage his previous self did.
There
are some laugh-aloud moments and some slightly creaky set pieces, but it’s a
thoroughly enjoyable read.
