I tried. Honest I did. I managed 100 pages of this great doorstep of a book before deciding life was too short to continue with something quite so tedious.It's a subject I'm really interested in, but Francis Pryor on paper comes across as just as verbose and annoying as he does on "Time Team".
To be slightly more generous, maybe if I'd started half-way through (rather than in pre-history) I'd have enjoyed it more. And I might have stuck with it a bit longer if "The Last Weekend" (see above) hadn't been sitting there asking to be read.
