JOHN LE CARRE The Mission Song **(*)

Profoundly disappointing - especially after The Constant Gardener, which I thought was great. After a rivetting first few pages so much of the rest is just boring.

It's about a mixed-race interpreter recruited in a cloak-and-dagger way to interpret at a secret meeting of various Congolese leaders who are planning a rebellion.

I think it may be inspired by the film 'The Conversation', because it's all about what the main character hears.

It doesn't work. Not for me, anyway.
